Rose-Marie Towle is a native of Santa Barbara, CA, where she studied plein-air oil painting with Master painters in the region. With a desire to capture the natural beauty of the coastal and mountain areas, Rose-Marie pursued her passion for art and painted with the best.
She participated in an Art Cultural Exchange in Tibet with Master Painter, Jove Wang and captured the local flavor of the culture and terrain. "Jove is an inspiration. His use of paint and hue is reminiscent of the Russian Masters, thick and colorful." Other workshops in China included Mongolia, and the Western "Silk Road".
In 2011, Rose-Marie moved to the Greater Houston area and currently resides in Brookshire. In 2019, while attending a painting workshop in Tuscany, she met watercolorist, Douglas K. Burd, and they spent time painting together during the pandemic. They now spend the summers in Douglas, Michigan where they are members of the local art scene.
Rose-Marie says, "Painting in Texas and Michigan is very different than in California. The local color, scenery and atmosphere require careful study. It is a challenge that I welcome, enjoying painting different environments, seasons and scenery , in the great outdoors."
